Table Manners
Dinner with a winner can be beneficial, but Proverbs 23:1-3 reminds us, “When you sit down to eat with a ruler, observe carefully what is before you, and put a knife to your throat if you are given to appetite. Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food”. Powerful, prosperous, or popular people are also persuasive. It’s flattering to be invited into their presence. Much can be learned, but that influence can be costly. There is a subtle temptation to yield to their control. Resist that, even if it means losing the relationship.
